We are John & Susan Hayhurst originally from Bacup & Stacksteads in Rossendale in Lancashire, England.
We spent 42 years as expatriates travelling and living in various parts of the world. Some places we visited on business or as tourists and in some places we stayed and worked for a number of years.
We always maintained Rossendale as our base, we generally managed to get back there for a short holiday once a year, and in later years we aimed to make it twice a year.
Susan's parents ran a radio and television business in Bacup and my parents had a bakery and shop in Stacksteads. We grew up in Ribble Street & New Line in Bacup and Acre Mill Road in Stacksteads. Susan has sisters living in Helmshore & Shawforth and a brother living in Wales.
We married in August 1971, and at that time we were living in a rented cottage in Helmshore, where we stayed for 2 years until we left the country in 1973 to work overseas.
Now we are retired and living in Bacup.
